Liverpool in pursuit of £54M Manchester City midfielder

Manchester City midfielder Matheus Nunes is reportedly unhappy with is situation at City and Liverpool are showing interest to sign the Portuguese international.

Nunes was a player Liverpool were interested in last summer, but decided not to pursue due to the high price. The return of Ilkay Gundogan will likely reduce Nunes’ playing time.

Matheus Nunes back on Liverpool radar?

Nunes’ move from Wolverhampton Wanderers last year did not turn out as expected. Nunes wasn’t a regular starter in Pep Guardiola’s side. The lack of playing time is reportedly frustrating the player and is looking for a move away from the club.

Nunes joined City in a £54M deal, but failed to make any impact. Nunes only managed 17 appearances last season. Not only Liverpool, Chelsea and West Ham are also showing interest in Matheus Nunes

According to Harry Pratt of The Express: “Liverpool and Chelsea showed interest earlier in the window, and now West Ham and Everton are also monitoring developments, with a loan offer and £40m option to buy being the most likely package.”

Matheus Nunes had offers from Saudi, but the 25 year old wants to revive his career at the Premier League. According to reports if a good offer comes for Nunes, Man City will not stand in his way.

Matheus Nunes was on Liverpool radar last summer to replace Jordan Henderson. Nunes’s ball carrying and defensive attributes can really help Slot’s system.
