Good News for Liverpool as Thiago returns to training ahead of Leicester clash

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp confirms the return of Thiago Alcantara in his pre-match press conference for the Leicester City clash on Tuesday.

The Spanish international was tested positive for coronavirus alongside Virgil van Dijk, Fabinho, and the young prodigy Curtis Jones. However, with the Leeds clash getting postponed, Thiago and co. got enough time to recover.

Thus, now all the Reds first-team players are free from COVID-19 and have returned to the Liverpool training center.

During the press conference for Leicester City clash in the Premier League, Jurgen Klopp said

The boys who had to isolate, or had COVID, are back. That means Fab, Virgil, Curtis and Thiago. Thiago was the latest, he came back and trained yesterday for the first time with the team.

With the Pandemic still in the air, the Reds boss further added saying,

We have one young player who is now isolating and two staff. It’s really tricky, every morning when you come in it’s a little bit like a lottery. You hope it’s all fine and then one case… that’s the situation, but apart from that we are fine.

Now that the Liverpool quartet is back in the training, the question still remains whether they are fit to start?

While Fabinho, van Dijk, & Jones were back before Christmas, Thiago was the latest one to join them after Christmas eve. Thus, Thiago might still be doubtful for the Leicester clash.

Thiago returns but Liverpool will still be without 5 players for the Leicester clash

The COVID outbreak is not the only concern that Jurgen Klopp is worried about, the tight and busy fixture schedule is also agonizing the German boss. Thus, this is eventually leading to tired legs and it might, unfortunately, cause injuries as well.

Liverpool will still be missing 4 players for the Leicester clash courtesy of their respective injuries. The Reds will be without the services of Nat Phillips, Divock Origi, Harvey Elliott and Adrian.

Meanwhile, Andy Robertson will be also be missing The Foxes clash owing to suspension. The red card the Scottish skipper received against Tottenham will also be keeping him out for the Chelsea clash in the new year.
