Erling Haaland has shown his support for Dominik Szoboszlai after Liverpool’s 2-0 win over Newcastle.
The victory extended Liverpool’s unbeaten league run to 24 matches and pushed them 13 points clear at the top of the table, in the Premier League.
Szoboszlai played a key role in the win, scoring his sixth goal of the season. This goal came just days after his strike against Manchester City.
Szoboszlai’s goal was important, but his contributions off the ball were also crucial. Manager Slot praised the Hungarian for his tireless efforts at numerous instances in this season.

Erling Haaland lauded Szoboszlai
After the match, Szoboszlai shared a picture of his celebration on Instagram. He added skull and wand emojis in the caption. Haaland, his former teammate at RB Salzburg, left a comment, “Yeaaah.”
In 2023, Szoboszlai revealed their strong bond. He shared how Haaland offered advice on finding real estate in the area.
The two joked about possibly becoming neighbors. Their friendship highlights how personal connections remain strong despite football rivalries.
Boss comes up with appreciation
“He’s been very, very important to us this season,” Slot said.
He noted that Szoboszlai’s work ethic in winning second balls and recovering possession often goes unnoticed.
“His ability to press and win back the ball is priceless,” Slot added.
The manager emphasized that Szoboszlai’s all-around play benefits the entire team. His ability to support teammates and create opportunities is invaluable.
