Jude Bellingham came dangerously close to joining Liverpool last season, but Diogo Jota now says the Reds have an even better midfielder than him.
Bellingham is among the favourites to win the Ballon d’Or this year following a fantastic Real Madrid season and a few standout performances at the 2024 European Championship.
Jota, speaking to Goal, asserts that Bellingham is inferior to one of his Liverpool colleagues.
The striker does believe that Trent Alexander-Arnold is a superior player to the Real Madrid star.
Diogo Jota says Trent Alexander-Arnold is better than Jude Bellingham
When talking about some of the top names in world football, the striker placed Alexander-Arnold slightly ahead of Bellingham.
“Trent?”
Jota was asked.
“Two,”
Jota said.
“Jude Bellingham?”
“Number three then.”
Trent Alexander-Arnold and Jude Bellingham Caught in the Act: Details Inside
Jota’s comparison between Bellingham and Alexander-Arnold is intriguing. Ultimately, these two have developed a strong bond.
Bellingham and Alexander-Arnold do appear to be inseparable on the England team, as seen by their recent sighting at the airport.
An update on the couple was given by Football London’s Kaya Kaynak, who said that he spotted them together in Los Angeles.
“I saw Jude Bellingham and Trent Alexander-Arnold together in the passport queue in LA,”
Kaynak said.
“I guess they’re on holiday together in LA. I don’t think they are signing for Arsenal, but maybe it’s some sort of Real Madrid link-up, Trent has been linked with a move over there, so it will be interesting to keep an eye out on that one.”
This occurred just after Alexander-Arnold was connected to a transfer to Real Madrid, as Kaynak notes.
It’s debatable if Alexander-Arnold is superior to Bellingham, but if Madrid were to acquire the Liverpool full-back, one could argue that England’s two best players would then be on the Los Blancos team.
