According to Football365, Liverpool have been linked with Denis Zakaria for a long time now. He is soon to be a free agent from Borussia Monchengladbach as his contract will expire in the coming year. The 25-year-old Swiss midfielder has caught the attention of the Reds by his brilliant play consistently.

Denis Zakaria was a part of Young Boys earlier back then. He left the Swiss side in 2017 and went on to make 144 appearances for the club while scoring 11 goals. Zakaria also has eight assists under his name during his time with the Swiss side.

The Gladbach star mainly plays as a defensive midfielder but has also played the role of a centre-back. He has featured as a forward and a right-winger too.

This shows his versatility and how flexible he is on the field. He would surely be a great fit for Liverpool. Moreover, Klopp likes such versatile players and while James Milner will be walking the path of retirement in the coming years, Zakaria could be a perfect replacement for the Englishman.

Denis Zakaria will strengthen Liverpool’s defense a lot more

Even though he had a long knee injury in 2019-20, Zakaria managed to be strong enough to endure it. He has had good fitness in Germany throughout his stay there. This has made him an attractive target and also because of the sheer quality that he possesses as a defensive midfielder.

Now Borussia Monchengladbach cannot prevent him from leaving as he desires to part his ways with the German club. Zakaria enters his final period of six months next month before his departure, confirmed by the club’s sporting director.

Borussia Monchengladbach will also miss out on Matthias Ginter as he too will be leaving the club this summer. Thus, Gladbach are open to selling their players with contracts expiring. This gives Liverpool a high chance to go out for the midfielder in the upcoming transfer window.

The approximate cost for Denis Zakaria would be £5.9 million as The Reds are eager to buy him next month. Various reports have confirmed that Denis Zakaria prefers a move to the Premier League instead of extending his time in Germany.

Even though Liverpool look strong in midfield now, it is still uneasy to forget Gini Wijnaldum. Therefore, the signing of Denis Zakaria would suffice Liverpool’s want.
