Dejan Lovren has spoken up on the contract situation of Mohammed Salah, and where his future lies during the summer transfer window.
The season is seriously pacing away and with just over three months remaining this term. And Liverpool are yet to guarantee that three of their best players will continue at the club.
One of those players is Egyptian starlet, Mohamed Salah, who has been one of the best players in the world during the 2024-25 season.
Regardless, the forward will be free to leave Merseyside once his contract expires in June. This could see Liverpool lose him without receiving a transfer fee.
As speculations surrounding Mo Salah’s future continues to grow, ex-Liverpool defender and former teammate Dejan Lovren has shared and given his insights on the situation at hand.

Dejan Lovren opinion on Mo Salah contract situation
The former Croatia international defender has spoken up about Mohamed Salah. He highlighted the club’s failure to reach an agreement with the forward to keep him at Anfield. Salah has oftentimes openly spoken on wanting to remain at the club and how much he loves Liverpool. But talks on penning a new deal at Anfield have made no headway thus far.
While Lovren stated that he wants Salah to remain at the club along with millions of Reds’ fans across the world. Lovren believes the club does not respect Mo Salah enough. He feels their approach to his contract renewal reflects this lack of respect.
The former Liverpool defender spent three years together with Salah at Liverpool. And the pair became really good friends during their period together at Anfield.
In an interview with winwinallsports, Lovren had this to say:
“I hope they will sort it out soon but the reality looks like he is more on the way out than the way in.”
When asked if Salah has begun considering a move to a particular club, Lovren admitted:
“that while he is not aware of any specific plans, the 32-year-old is definitely contemplating taking a new step in his career.”
The Croat further added,
“Football can be cruel and unpredictable. Some people with money may overlook Salah and what he offers on the pitch, focusing only on the financial side and thinking he’s not worth it. It hurts, but I believe letting him go would be a mistake, as he still has many years to offer at the top of his game.”
As Salah’s contract enters its final few months, hopes of him staying at Liverpool are gradually fading. But there’s surely still time for the unexpected to happen.
