The German mastermind was always vocal. Connor Randall, a former Liverpool star, has commented on how Jurgen Klopp made him leave Anfield. It was one hell of a decision, but, considering the shame, Randall stuck to it.
How Jurgen Klopp Made Connor Randall Quit Liverpool
We mainly know Jurgen Klopp at how he made the Reds flourish. Although he strengthened the base of Liverpool, some youngsters had their fair share of struggles under the former Liverpool Boss.
Connor Randall, a former star from Anfield, happens to be one of those names. According to him, it was Klopp’s harsh words that made him feel unwanted and embarrassed in the academy.
It was 2017 and Liverpool was preparing to lose to the Wolves for a fourth time. The FA Cup rivalry was almost decided at halftime when the Reds were trailing at a brutal 0-2.
Other players, especially Divock Origi, did their best and tried levelling the score. Liverpool had to depart with a 1-2 loss, and Jurgen Klopp did not hold back from making harsh comments about Connor Randall.
The former Red remembers how brutal Klopp was when halftime commenced during that match. He could not help but feel ashamed and helpless while being in the changing room.
Although his friends and family were upstairs, Jurgen Klopp’s harsh criticism made Connor Randall freeze in the Liverpool locker room. He did not want to play and according to Randall, it affected him beyond football.
Although he started in the Liverpool lineup, after receiving criticism from Jurgen Klopp, Connor Randall found it hard to bounce back. He left Anfield in July 2019 and had to spend three months without any club.
“If I’m being honest I did find it tough. Not just football, I probably took it with me outside of football as well. The biggest emotion is being half-ashamed, even going out, you don’t want to go places and for people to see you and go ‘that s*** player’ or whatever.”
