Liverpool has managed to climb up the ladder when it comes to loaning their players off to other leagues and teams. Recently, the Mainz Club have shown interest in Sepp Van Den Berg.
The Red has been successful in putting up good performances in the past seasons. Now, the club has expressed their interest in taking him back on a loan again.
Mainz Executive talks about Van Den Berg
For the Merseyside Club, Sepp is an asset for the upcoming Premier League. The 22-year-old Bundesliga defender has scored 3 goals in the last season. That’s why, Mainz loves him to be on their team. However, there is one problem ahead.
The club does not want to match Liverpool’s asking price of Sepp. Christian Heidel, Executive of Mainz Club has talked about LFC’s price tag on Van Den Berg, as Florian Plettenberg claims.
“We would like him to stay and Sepp would also really like to do it. But we also respect that Liverpool has not decided about it yet. We will not buy a player for over £20 million, which is what Liverpool want. Our club cannot do that.”
Heidel explains their motive.
On the other hand, Sepp loves to stay at Mainz. Moreover, just like the Bundesliga club, Sepp is also surprised that he is worth that much for Liverpool.
“If you want to leave, then £20 million is quite a lot. I know in today’s market crazy things can happen. They put a price tag on me which Liverpool may think is right because I had a good season last year.
The first reaction from me was that it was quite high! Of course, it is a compliment in one way. It’s a sign of how well I did last year. But it makes it a bit more difficult the other way. If they only thought I was worth £2 million, that wouldn’t be nice, but £20 million is maybe on the high side.”
