Arthur Melo in Liverpool training

Recently, Arthur Melo’s performance at Liverpool training has been praised as “excellent.”

A new midfield addition for the Scousers

On the last day of the transfer window, Liverpool acquired the Brazil international on a one-year loan from Juventus. Jurgen Klopp was in dire need of a midfielder owing to an injury issue. The Reds are currently dealing with a lot of players on the bench due to injury. And Klopp felt necessary to introduce a new addition in the squad.

However, Arthur was not quite match-ready when he came at Anfield. And he has only played 13 minutes under Klopp thus far.

The 26-year-old, though, appeared once again for the reserves on Tuesday night after playing 90 minutes this past weekend for the Reds’ Under-21 team.

Arthur Melo being praised as “phenomenal” in training

Barry Lewtas, the manager of the club’s under-21 team, has praised the South American and said he has been great in training, both in terms of statistics and blending with the young players.

According to Lewtas:

“Arthur has been in over the international break to play games and build up his fitness. That’s off his own back, so that shows his level of professionalism. He has been great with the lads as well. He has been first-class.”

The future of the Brazilian in Liverpool

Previous rumours said Liverpool would try to sever Arthur’s contract as early as January.

But reputable Spanish writer Guillem Balague claimed that there was no truth to such rumors and that he had been impressing Klopp’s coaching staff secretly.

After the international break, it will be interesting to see if he is any more up to speed at Liverpool, but going on his recent performances for the reserves, he most certainly should be. Only time will tell if he can now perform “excellently” on the field.
