Harvey Blair a young talent from Liverpool is about to move a move to Portsmouth for around £300,000, becoming the second highly regarded academy graduate to depart from Liverpool while Arne Slot in charge of the team.
Blair was considered a promising talent when he joined Liverpool in 2015 having previously spent almost ten years with Manchester United’s academy.
In 2021 when Liverpool went on to win the EFL Cup he made his lone first-team debut against Preston North End.
Blair’s participation in Liverpool’s preseason tour of America this summer suggested that he might play in the first team as former manager Jurgen Klopp had called him a real talent.
Nevertheless Slot found it extremely difficult to crack the starting lineup despite having a wealth of attacking options at his disposal.
Young talent leaving Liverpool under Slot
Blair is now the 12th player to leave Liverpool this summer following Sepp van den Berg who left for Brentford for a fee of £25 million.
Blair was thwarted in his quest to play for the first team by more seasoned players even though he was a member of the pre-season team and participated in all three of Liverpool’s games while on tour in America.
Blair is offered a new start and the chance to see more regular playing time by Portsmouth who are trying to strengthen their squad following a mixed start to their Championship campaign.
In an effort to further his growth and establish himself outside of Anfield in English football Blair is starting a new chapter with this move.
