Liverpool Summer Transfer Window 2024: Overview

Liverpool Summer Transfer Window 2024: Overview

Last season was not much full of flare from the Merseyside club. Even with Jurgen Klopp beside them, LFC were not impressive with their performance. Now, with the arrival of Arne Slot, Liverpool are looking forward to the summer transfer window. The Dutchman has some things planned for Anfield, but let us take a look at the present before further speculations.

LFC Last Season: Analysis Of Weak Points

The Reds had to suffer from a disappointing miss of 79 chances. Big names from the squad like Luis Diaz and Mohamed Salah missed 13 and 17 chances.

The bigger example of disappointment to the fans was Darwin Nunez, who managed to miss 27 big chances.

Since we are talking about disappointments here, Arne Slot should plan something for building up a solid defence. Hence, all eyes are on the Liverpool Summer Transfer Window 2024.

Last season, LFC had to forfeit 41 goals in total. This figure goes way above other Premier League powerhouses like Arsenal and Manchester City.

At this point, we need a central defensive midfielder on the squad. Yes, it should not be Alexis Mac Allister; while he was playing in that position, every match reminded me how good he could be if Alexis played in the attacking frontline.

This time, Arne Slot and Richard Hughes should work together and bring a pivotal defender for the Reds.

Liverpool Summer Transfer Window 2024: Potential Targets

After Jurgen Klopp stepped down and left Anfield, LFC needed someone who could continue with his style. It seems like the Dutchman stepped in at the right time.

Arne Slot has a primary goal in his mind, and that’s improving the squad before any campaign starts. Joel Matip is already leaving from any future involvement with LFC.

Slot needs to fill this gap with a solid central defender who will be pivotal in solving the goals conceding problem.

Riccardo Calafiori is a potential target for Liverpool this summer transfer window; the youngster will be the perfect defender that the Reds need.

Not only he will fill the void Matip left, but he can also perform as a classic centre-back. Bologna are ready to sell Riccardo Calafiori to Liverpool and other Premier League powerhouses.

Considering his Serie A campaign performance, LFC needs to keep an eye open for Calafiori.

To take things to a level further, LFC is also keeping Rodrygo on their radar. The Brazilian winger could be a jewel on the crown alongside Vini Jr and Jude Bellingham.

The Brazilian winger needs no introduction, especially after his performance for Real Madrid. Rodrygo has dominated the centre-forward position as a part of the La Liga club. He is also a potential target in the Liverpool this summer transfer window.

On the other hand, Newcastle F.C. have expressed their interest in striking a deal with Gordon. But this deal has become a bit problematic for Liverpool – they do not want to lose Jarell Quansah.

Instead, Arne Slot’s squad will probably take their goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher into the deal. Anthony Gordon has been a Liverpool summer transfer target for a long time now.

If they manage to include Kelleher as a part of the deal, it will be easier to decrease a hefty transfer fee.

How Liverpool Might Plot Their Transfers: Budget Overview

According to financial experts, the Merseyside Club should not have a problem regarding funds. Liverpool Summer Transfer is on hold right now due to the ongoing UEFA Euro Championship.

Although everything seems quiet in Anfield, the Reds are gearing up for more profit this year. In comparison to 2023, LFC’s revenue has repeatedly dropped to £593.8 million from £594.3 million.

As CaughtOffside mentioned, besides Al-Nassr and Al-Hilal, other clubs of the Saudi Pro League are vouching for Virgil Van Dijk. LFC are destined to extract a big amount for their captain’s transfer fee if things go as planned.

Whereas, Slot and Hughes are doing their best to sign Anthony Gordon – after including Caoimhin Kelleher, the transfer fee has been reduced to £50 million.

Arne Slot will only have £415 million for agent fees, transfer wages, and other salaries. The chunky £261 million leaves £154 million for the Liverpool summer transfer window.

Financial expert Mo Chatra expressed his views regarding this. According to him, a drop in the Deloitte Football Money League will not affect Liverpool at all.

“The club should make a record-breaking turnover of £630m or more next season and reasonable profits for the current season. Profits should be achieved this season – despite an expected decrease in revenue – due largely to a substantial drop in the wage bill.”
