Liverpool midfielder Alexis Mac Allister has come out in support of his Argentina teammate Enzo Fernandez.
The Chelsea midfielder went on live during celebrations and made some racist comments.
All videos and photos indicate that Alexis was not with Enzo and other teammates during the celebrations.
Alexis Mac Allister On The Enzo Situation
Mac Allister speaking to UrbanPlay FM:
“You have to be careful with what you say or do, especially in Europe where they are much more sensitive than here. The reality is that we are not a racist country; we are not used to talking about racism so much.
Yes, it’s a very important topic, obviously. Enzo has already apologized and explained what happened. I don’t think there’s much more to say. We know Enzo, we know he would never do it with bad intentions, he’s not that guy, he’s not racist.
It’s just a chant that got stuck and is more of a mocking tone than anything else. But, as I said, you have to be very careful.
I think the most important thing is that Enzo came out, gave the corresponding apologies, and that, in the end, should be valued.”
Alexis Mac Allister was not part of the bus journey where this racist chant took place he was travelling separately.
A number of Enzo Fernandez’s Chelsea teammates have expressed their disappointment in the issue.
Wesley Fofana went on social media to express his frustration against Enzo’s ‘Football in 2024: uninhibited racism’ that was his comment.
At the moment it is not clear what decision Chelsea will take on Enzo. Enzo has put out a public apology through his social media story.
Few Chelsea players have unfollowed Enzo on social media expressing their disappointment.
