In August 2019 Adrian signed for Liverpool on a free transfer from West Ham United. He made his debut for the club coming from the bench in the 39th minute, replacing the injured Alisson against Norwich City in a 4-1 win.

Thereafter, Adrian Started in the 2019 UEFA Super Cup against Chelsea. The game ended in a draw 2-2 after the extra time, and the match went to a penalty shoot-out. Adrian saves the final penalty of Tammy Abraham, winning Liverpool their first trophy of the 2019-20 season. It was also the first trophy in his career.

The 34-year old Spaniard had Struggled to displace the Brazilian Allison Becker, in the team sheet. while In the past two years Adrian finds himself below the young goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher in the order as the 3rd choice goalkeeper.

Adrian extending his stay at Liverpool

Adrian has made 24 appearances for Liverpool, playing as a back-up for the first choice goalkeeper Alisson. He has won the Premier League, the Super Cup, and the Club World Cup with the Reds.

This Summer Adrian had a chance to move back to his homeland with the Spanish side Real Betis showing interest in Signing him. Instead, Adrian decided to extend his stay at Liverpool until 2022 by signing the new contract with his ambition to be in Liverpool’s first team.

Adrian told Radio Marca Sevilla

“I’m delighted, I’m very happy to stay in the club. The atmosphere, the support from the club and manager Jurgen Klopp, the support from the players and everyone involved. I am proud to be part of this Liverpool family. Liverpool is a big and prestigious club. I will continue fighting here, the competition is getting tougher. But I like challenges and I’m still hard at work. What comes in the future we will see.

The Spaniard shot-stopper has kept six clean sheets in 24 games for Liverpool across all competitions, but he is still waiting for his first appearance of the 2021-22 season.
