A record to grab for Liverpool against Palace

A record to grab for Liverpool against Palace

Liverpool will make a visit to Selhurst Park today to face their favourite opponents under the Jurgen Klopp era as they have yet another record to register under them against Crystal Palace.

If Klopp’s side did not concede any goals against the Eagles today, it will be for the first time that Liverpool will manage to keep five successive clean sheets against Palace. Beating the previous record of four which was set in the 1980’s.

The Reds will be looking forward to their 10th successive league win against similar opponents. The Merseyside club will achieve this feat only for the 4th time under their reign since their foundation.

Previously, Liverpool have managed to do so against Notts County (1920-55) & Bolton Wanderers (1988-97) winning 10 in a row. Moreover, the highest achieved by the Reds is 12 against West Brom (1985-2012).

Moreover, a win against Patrick Vieira’s side will be Liverpool’s seventh successive win at Palace. While West Brom and Norwich are the only two sides against whom Liverpool have managed to win more in succession on their respective home turfs (8 times).

Meanwhile, Jurgen Klopp has won more Premier League games against Palace (11) than he has against any other team.

Can Crystal Palace stop Liverpool from grabbing a record win over them?

Palace are the only side to win a game against the Champions Manchester City on City’s home turf this season.

Moreover, the Eagles have defeated Tottenham at home and have pulled out a draw against Arsenal. Thus, Palace possesses enough capabilities to pull out an upset against any top-flight club in the Premier League.

Meanwhile, the Glaziers are quite popular to score late goals this season. A total of 7 out of 30 league goals that Palace have scored are after the 83rd-minute mark.

Liverpool players to watch out against the Eagles

If Liverpool’s captain Jordan Henderson starts, he will equal John Barnes’ club record of 14 appearances against Crystal Palace.

While in terms of goals, Diogo Jota has scored 6 times for the Reds in 6 fixtures he has played in London. Moreover, the in-form Portugues has so far scored 27 goals and out of the 22 matches he has scored the Reds have never lost.

Meanwhile, Roberto Firmino has found the back of the nets 6 times in his 12 fixtures against Palace.
