2 Liverpool youngsters nominated for the European Golden Boy Award

Liverpool duo Fabio Carvalho and Harvey Elliot have been shortlisted for the 2022 European Golden Boy award. The award recognizes the best U-21 player in Europe for the calendar year.

Tuttosport’s Golden boy award is back. The Italian publication has released the 100-man shortlist for this year’s award.

Pedri won the 2021 Golden boy award. Thanks to his great 20-21 campaign for Barcelona and eye-catching performances for Spanish NT in the Euros and the Olympics.

The Award is acknowledging the best U-21 Player in Europe since 2003. With Liverpool’s only winner being Raheem Sterling in 2014.

Journalists from all over Europe vote for the player who has been the most impressive over the course of a calendar year.

2 Liverpool youngsters made it to the top 100

Elliott made it to the 100-man shortlist for 2022 with new Liverpool recruit Fabio Carvalho. The two 19-year-olds made into the list after impressing for their respective clubs.

Former Liverpool defender Ki-Jana Hoever, who is now at Wolves, is also on the shortlist. Moreover, Man United’s Anthony Elanga and Leeds’ Joe Gelhardt are also representing the Premier League.

Although Jude Bellingham, Gavi, and Eduardo Camavinga are the front-runners for the award. But there is a chance that another winner will emerge.

The 100-man list will be whittled down. And the prize will be given out later in the year, as is customary.

Elliott and Carvalho’s nominations reflect their recent success for their respective clubs. Moreover, the latter was in fine form scoring 11 goals and assisting eight times this season helping Fulham return to the Premier League (Stats via whoscored.com).
