World-Class Liverpool player expected to leave by end of Season

Liverpool are doing great in the Premier League, but there is trouble regarding a world-class player brewing behind the scenes.

As the Premier League is about to resume after an international break, Liverpool are scheduled to host Nottingham Forest at Anfield on Saturday, kick-off is at 3 pm BST.

Many of Liverpool’s main players have returned to the club following international matches, the exception being Harvey Elliott, who is recovering from a fracture.

There was some concern regarding Alexis Mac Allister, who picked up muscle load issues with Argentina. However, in both matches for Argentina, Mac Allister played, which should indicate he is available to play.

World-class Kelleher’s future uncertain with Liverpool

Although Liverpool’s Trent Alexander-Arnold, Mohamed Salah, and Virgil van Dijk are all in the final year of their contracts, they are all in negotiation with the club, and we could see them stay in the club, but the focus is on backup goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher.

James Pearce suggested on The Athletic’s “Walk On” podcast that this may be Kelleher’s last season at Anfield. For such an incredibly talented goalkeeper, it seems surprising that throughout the transfer window, little interest emerged in his signature.

Towards the end of that window, Nottingham Forest made two bids for Kelleher, offering £7 million plus goalkeeper Matt Turner in the first of what Liverpool rejected, and then made a marginally better second offer that was again rejected because it failed to get close to what Liverpool valued Kelleher at, admittedly high, at approximately £25-30 million.

Caoimhin Kelleher has expressed his desire to leave Liverpool in search of any team’s first goalkeeper.

He stated,

“I’ve said I don’t want this position of number two. I want to be a position of number one. I want to go and play and yeah, wherever that is the most important thing is to be number one and get games, so whether that’s at Liverpool or elsewhere doesn’t matter. The main thing is that I do need to be playing games.”
