Discover why Mohamed Salah wants to lift the English Premier League over the UEFA Champions League this season. The Egyptian is highly motivated to win the League title for the first time in five years.

The Egyptian who is desperate to lift the Premier League again, has noted that the ability to win it in the 2019-20 season serves as an extra boost for him and some other members of the squad who were a part of the Liverpool team that claimed the trophy during the “COVID season.”

There are currently still six players left, from the team that won the EPL trophy 5 years ago under Jurgen Klopp. Mohamed Salah is relishing the opportunity to put his hands on the trophy this season, after four years of dominance by Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City.

Salah desperate for Premier League glory after 2020

During the last Premier League triumph in 2020, the Reds lifted the title in a stadium without the presence of their fans, as a result of the COVID restrictions that prevented football fans from attending live football games.

The lockdown protective measures made the celebrations a weird occasion. The absence of fans from celebrating Liverpool’s the trophy, undermined the importance of the Merseyside club winning their first ever Premier League title, and their first league title in 30+ years.

Thisisanfield reports that Mo Salah spoke to Optus Sport, saying, “The importance of enjoying a title win with the fans is why he is desperate to secure the trophy this time out.”

Reacting to a photo from Liverpool’s UEFA Champions League parade in 2019, Salah said, “It was an incredible day, to be fair. That’s why I’m really desperate to win the Premier League with the club now and have the same day as this one.”

The Egyptian understands how important it would be for the club to win the Premier League, and explains that the drive to lift the league trophy is spurring him on this season.

“The biggest motivation is to win the Premier League. Not even the Champions League, I always chose the Champions League, for seven years I always said UCL. This is the first year I say the Premier League.”
