Virgil Van Dijk makes the PFA TOTY
The Team Of The Year largely dominated by Manchester City and Arsenal players, Van Dijk and Ollie Watkins are the only exceptions. Arsenal has 5 players that made the team while Manchester City has 4.
Van Dijk (LFC), Saliba (AFC), Gabriel (AFC), and Walker (MCI) formed the backline with Raya (AFC) in goal. Rice (AFC), Rodri (MCI), and Odegaard (AFC) made the midfield three. Haaland (MCI), Foden (MCI), Watkins (AVL) formed the front three.
It is 4th time Virgil Van Dijk has made the PFA Team Of The Year (TOTY) since joining Liverpool. He made the team in 18/19, 19/20, 21/22, 23/24. Rio Ferdinand is the only centre-back in Premier League history to have more.
Jurgen Klopp’s final season had the team chasing the quadruple again, but a disappointing end to the campaign meant Liverpool only finished the season with the Carabao Cup.
Van Dijk has been key for this Liverpool team. His performances has been consistent throughout his time at the club. However there is still no update regarding his contract extension, with only one year left on his contract there are no talks ongoing to extend his contract.
