Former Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp recently discussed his profound respect for his former players and his predictions for the future of some of the teams important players in an interview with ESPN Netherlands.
Trent Alexander-Arnold a player Klopp developed through the ranks at Anfield was widely praised by Klopp who also commended Arne Slot for his work at Liverpool.
Alexander-Arnold’s remarkable talent and character were highlighted by Klopp as he discussed the influence the player had on him.
Speaking about Virgil van Dijk Klopp’s last captain at Liverpool he acknowledged he wasn’t sure what the Dutchman’s future held.
He said,
“I have no idea what he, what they will do. And it’s all their own decision. They are grown-ups. They will do the right stuff.”
Van Dijk has the final say over a renewal and Klopp has faith in the players maturity to make the best decision for his career despite the lack of public discussions surrounding the matter.
Klopp unsure about Liverpool players future
The wider contract situation at Liverpool where Trent Alexander-Arnold and Mohamed Salah are also approaching the end of their contracts was also mentioned in Klopp’s reflections.
For the club losing these three key players Van Dijk, Salah and Alexander-Arnold would be extremely difficult.
The manager Klopp has admitted that these players who have been essential to the team during his tenure may depart on free transfers in the summer which could significantly change the dynamics of the group.
