Reds’ captain Virgil van Dijk has issued a strong and clear warning to his side ahead of their UCL Round of 16 first-leg clash against PSG. Liverpool face the French giants in a titanic clash in the UEFA Champions League.
After finishing top of the Champions League group phase, Slot’s men were drawn to face the Ligue 1 champions in the Last 16. Paris Saint-Germain hammered fellow French outfit Brest in the knockout phase 10-0.
They claimed a 3-0 away win, before winning hitting 7 unanswered goals past Brest at the Parc des Princes a fortnight ago. In light of this, Virgil van Dijk has given a clear description on the challenge that awaits his team in the tie against PSG.

Virgil van Dijk’s warning to Liverpool in the UCL
The Liverpool defender has warned his teammates ahead of the two legs against PSG in the Champions League. According to thisisanfield, the Dutch international passed an avid message, saying, “It will be a very good game, I expect over there, against a team in form.”
He also added, “I think they played very well in their last Champions League game against Brest. It will be difficult but these are the games you want to compete in and I am really looking forward to it.”
Liverpool players had a few days of extra rest over the weekend, due to them being uninvolved in the FA Cup matches that took place. Van Dijk is well aware that European knockout matches leave no room for errors.
The captain sent a clear message, emphasizing the importance of maintaining high standards in such crucial matches. He stated that Liverpool are coming into the tie to give their best, as they look to make it into the next round of the competition.
“You have to fight for it, you have to do everything in your power to win the game. That is what we are going to try and do but we are definitely aware of them.” He said.
Liverpool travel to Paris for the first leg of the encounter on Wednesday, March 5th, with the second leg scheduled to take place next week at Anfield.
