Liverpool are closing in on a deal for Valencia’s highly-rated goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili, but finalizing the transfer is proving tricky due to disagreements over salary and payment terms.
Liverpool and Valencia have reached a verbal agreement for Mamardashvili’s transfer, with the Reds willing to pay €35 million plus a 10% future sale clause.

However, disputes over salary and payment terms have delayed the deal. Liverpool wants to spread the transfer fee over several years, while Valencia’s owner, Peter Lim, is pushing for a significant upfront payment due to the club’s financial struggles.
Additionally, Liverpool plans to triple Mamardashvili’s current salary but wants Valencia to cover most of his wages if he stays on loan at the Spanish club.
Valencia, absent from European competitions for five years, is keen on getting the cash sooner rather than later, creating a potential standoff in negotiations.
Despite these hurdles, both clubs seem eager to complete the deal before the transfer window closes. Whether they can resolve these issues remains to be seen. Is Liverpool’s first signing under Arne Slot on it’s way?
