Brentford have agreed a deal in principle with Liverpool defender Sepp Van Den Berg. Bayer Leverkusen are also willing to sign Van Den Berg, the decision is up to the player now.
One of the best defenders in the Bundesliga last season. Van Den Berg featured in all the pre-season games under Arne Slot.
If the deal goes through Liverpool are set to earn a major profit through the sale, which can be used to invest in other players.
Van Den Berg set to decide between Brentford and Leverkusen
According to reports both Brentford and Bayer Leverkusen have agreed a deal in principle to sign the Liverpool defender. Now it’s up to the defender to make a decision.
According to Lyall Thomas of Sky Sports, “Brentford Fc have agreed a deal in principle with Liverpool for Sepp van den Berg – but so have Bayer Leverkusen and the decision is down to the player with Bayer needing to offload a CB.”
Both teams have agreed to pay £25m plus £5m in add-ons for the centre-back. Liverpool signed Van Den Berg for £1.3M in 2019, and now they are set to earn a massive profit on the deal, which is incredible business.
However, with Sepp on his way out and Joe Gomez considering options to leave Liverpool have to sign a new centre-back. If Van Den Berg and Gomez leave the club, the only centre-back options are Van Dijk, Konate and Quansah.
Liverpool are expected to earn over £50m plus by the sales of Van Den Berg, Carvalho, and Bobby Clark. So hopefully we can expect the club to use the money to bring a new player.
