Liverpool Defender Attracting Interest From Germany: Will He Leave Before The Window Closes?

According to the latest reports Bundesliga side Hoffenheim have entered the race to sign Liverpool defender Sepp Van Den Berg.

Van den Berg had already expressed his disappointment when Liverpool valued him €20m during the initial stages of the transfer window.

German side Mainz are also interested in signing Van Den Berg this summer from Liverpool.

Sepp van den Berg Set To Leave?

Dutch international spent the last two seasons on loan at Mainz had developed his game and was one of the best defenders in the Bundesliga last season.

According to Florian Plettenberg of Sky Germany:

“TSG Hoffenheim have entered the race for Sepp van den Berg. 22 y/o central defender wants to leave Liverpool this transfer window as reported.

Talks between Hoffenheim and the player’s side have taken place. No talks with LFC yet. Mainz 05, still there but Liverpool demand €20m now.”

According to reports Van den Berg has really impressed in pre-season and had used his time in Germany to properly developed his game.

There were reports that Arne Slot wanted to see his performance before making a decision on him.

Irrespective of Van den Berg’s decision Liverpool need to sign another center back to replace Matip.

Van den Berg was one of the best center backs in the Bundesliga last season he would have added great depth and quality to the Liverpool defense.
