Liverpool may be down a star defender soon, but they’re looking to bounce back in style — by turning their eyes to one of Real Madrid’s brightest forwards.

With Trent Alexander-Arnold expected to join Los Blancos this summer, the Reds are already plotting a bit of transfer revenge.

Reports (via TBR correspondent Graeme Bailey) suggest Liverpool have spoken with Rodrygo’s camp in recent weeks.

The Brazilian forward isn’t guaranteed a starting role anymore at Madrid, especially with Kylian Mbappe present in the starting lineup and Carlo Ancelotti set to leave. That has opened the door, and Liverpool might just walk through it.

Rodrygo has been a big part of Madrid’s attack since 2019, scoring 68 goals and providing 50 assists in 267 games.

But with game time shrinking and his future uncertain under Madrid’s next manager—possibly Xabi Alonso — the 24-year-old is weighing his options.

Madrid are reportedly willing to listen to offers. The price tag? Around €100 million. That’s no pocket change, but Liverpool are not the only ones interested. Arsenal and Manchester City have also been in touch.

Still, it’s Liverpool who are most eager. The Reds even tried to sign Rodrygo last to last summer but couldn’t seal the deal.

This time, with a Premier League title in hand and Darwin Nunez possibly heading for the exit, they’re back in the race.

Can Rodrygo replace Darwin Numez at Liverpool?

That’s the million-euro question. Rodrygo may not be a classic No. 9, but he brings something Liverpool needs — composure, versatility, and big-game experience. He can play wide or through the middle and could thrive in Arne Slot’s system.

Nunez has been hot and cold in front of goal. Rodrygo, on the other hand, is more clinical.

With Salah aging and the forward line in flux, this move could help future-proof Liverpool’s attack.
