Liverpool fans, brace yourselves! The iconic Steven Gerrard is set to grace the hallowed Anfield turf once more in the iconic Liverpool shirt for the upcoming LFC Foundation charity match against Ajax Legends on March 23.

The 43-year-old legend will join forces with football luminaries like Fernando Torres, Daniel Agger, and Jerzy Dudek for an unforgettable clash.

Adding to the excitement, former England manager Sven Goran-Eriksson will helm the home team, fulfilling a lifelong wish.

Eriksson, diagnosed with terminal cancer, became the fans’ choice for the managerial role, and his heartfelt desire to manage Liverpool is set to become a reality. He told Sky News,

“My father is still alive and is still a Liverpool supporter, and I’m a Liverpool supporter as well, I’ve always been.

So I always wished to be the manager of Liverpool, and that will not happen for sure, but I’m still a Liverpool fan.”

The charity match, a yearly tradition, has become a significant event for the Anfield faithful. Previous encounters with Manchester United and Celtic raised a staggering £1.45 million for the LFC Foundation.

This year, the match promises an electric atmosphere with nearly 55,000 fans already securing their tickets.

Gerrard, Barnes and More for Liverpool

An impressive lineup of Liverpool legends, including John Aldridge, Ian Rush, and John Barnes, will share the dugout with Gerrard.

Treble-winning goalkeeper Sander Westerveld is also set to make a triumphant return to Anfield, ensuring a star-studded affair.

Ajax Legends will bring their A-game, featuring stars like Jari Litmanen, Ryan Babel, and more.

Presented by AXA, the charity match is not only a celebration of football greatness but a testament to the Liverpool community’s generosity.

This charity spectacle isn’t just about football; it’s about making a difference.

The funds raised will support the LFC Foundation’s various programs, impacting lives on a daily basis.

This year’s focus is on education programs, aiming to address social issues like youth unemployment, poor educational outcomes, and crime.

Join in the fun, witness legends in action, and contribute to changing lives through the power of football.

Forever Reds, the official former players association, will also receive a share of the proceeds, ensuring support for players in need, especially during the later stages of their lives.

Don’t miss out! Tickets are still available, priced at £28 for adults, £8 for juniors, and £18 for over-65s. Grab your seats online or check the Accessibility Hub for details if you’re a disabled supporter.

Mark your calendars for March 23 – Anfield awaits an unforgettable reunion of legends for a cause that goes beyond the beautiful game.
