Slot verdict Liverpool new signing has already been delivered, with Arne Slot praising Giovanni Leoni’s “impressive” start at the club.
The Italian defender only joined from Parma last week, yet he has already caught the eye of his new manager in training.
Leoni, 18, arrived at Anfield after a breakthrough campaign in Serie A and wasted no time stepping into the senior squad at the AXA Training Centre.
The centre-back has made a smooth transition, showing confidence and maturity beyond his age.

Slot impressed by Leoni’s maturity and qualities
Speaking in his pre-match press conference, Slot revealed that the young Italian has already made a strong impression.
“He is a good-looking guy, as [with] most Italians! He has trained with us three times now I think,” the Liverpool boss said with a smile.
Slot highlighted Leoni’s physical and technical qualities, while stressing the composure he has shown in early sessions.
“If you look at his transfer fee, you can expect that he is already quite grown up for his age – and that’s exactly what I saw. He comes in as an 18-year-old just playing with his new teammates as if he is here for longer. Impressive.”
The Dutchman added that Leoni’s seamless adaptation also reflects the welcoming nature of the current Liverpool squad.
“It tells you something about the team. If you come to this club, if you come into this team, you feel at ease from the start because it’s a very good and nice group to start your Liverpool career in.”
Liverpool view Leoni as a long-term prospect, but Slot’s early praise shows why the club invested in him.
Reds supporters will be eager to see how quickly the teenager can push for minutes in a squad that continues to balance experience with emerging talent.
