Should Liverpool sign Bayern star reportedly set to become free agent

Bayern Munich star Joshua Kimmich is set to become a free agent at the end of this season. Should Liverpool go in for the experienced player when his contract expires?

According to reports, Kimmich could be on his way out of Bayern this summer after the club turned down their decision to offer him a contract extension, to keep him with the German giants.

The German international player runs out of contract in the summer but had been in extended talks with Bayern over putting pen to paper on a deal to extend his stay with the Bundesliga leaders.

The experienced player who can operate both as a right-back and a defensive midfielder has been a key player in Bayern this season and has registered 11G/A across 36 games in all competitions.

Should Liverpool go for Bayern star?

While Liverpool still fear that Alexander-Arnold could be heading for the exit at the end of the season, it would be wise to attempt to bring in Joshua Kimmich at the end of the season as he can act as a replacement for Trent and backup/competition for Ryan Gravenberch in the No. 6 role.

Also considering that the German international is 30 already, the Reds could also aid Conor Bradley’s development at the club in subsequent years, while also making plans to make the Northern Irishman the undisputed starter for the right-back position.

As per AnythingLFC, Bayern has withdrawn its offer for a new contract for Kimmich and his possible availability in the summer should be thoroughly considered at Anfield.

His experience at the highest level, ability to dictate the tempo of the game, and defensive awareness would add depth and quality to Liverpool’s midfield.

His tactical intelligence would complement Arne Slot’s possession based pattern of play, especially given LFC’s current need for a more dynamic midfield.

The main problem for the Merseyside club, however, would be the competition for his signature.

Fellow big clubs like PSG and Manchester City have already been credited with interest in him, another reason why the Reds should act swiftly as soon as they get the chance.
