Liverpool midfielder Ryan Gravenberch has spoken publicly for the first time about his future at Anfield, addressing reports that the club wants to offer him a new long-term deal.

The Dutchman, one of Arne Slot’s most trusted players, made it clear he’s in no rush but hinted he’s more than content on Merseyside.

The 23-year-old has been central to Liverpool’s midfield rebuild since Slot took over last year. He played a major role in last season’s Premier League title triumph, anchoring the midfield in 37 league matches.

With his current deal running until 2028, fans have been eager to know if fresh terms are on the horizon.

When asked about potential contract talks, Gravenberch kept things simple: “Obviously I’m happy here so we have to see. We haven’t talked yet but we will see.”

His response reflects calm confidence rather than uncertainty — a sign that both sides may be taking their time to get things right.

Gravenberch didn’t shy away from crediting his manager either. He praised Arne Slot for transforming his Liverpool career and giving him belief.

“For me he is really important. When he came here, he gave me the chance to become a starting 11 player, he gave me a lot of confidence and he gave me the opportunity to show myself.”

That faith has clearly paid off. The Dutchman has evolved into a reliable No. 6, balancing composure with control. He admitted the shift to a deeper role wasn’t easy but credited Slot’s guidance — and a few words from home.

“My dad always says I have to shoot more, shoot more, shoot more — and we see what happens. When I shot against Villa, it got deflected and went in. I have to shoot more.”

Patience in progress

With several new faces like Florian Wirtz, Alexander Isak, and Jeremie Frimpong joining this season, Gravenberch also acknowledged that adaptation takes time.

“For the new players it’s not always easy,” he said. “They come to a new team with a new coach. Such things take time. You’re not always very good from day one.”

As Liverpool prepare to face Real Madrid in the Champions League, Gravenberch’s calm demeanor mirrors the steady presence he brings to the pitch — composed, confident, and quietly vital.
