Liverpool insiders are reportedly expecting Adam Lewis to leave the club this summer, with a loan or permanent exit now on the cards for the defender.

As per Liverpool Echo, the 23-year-old will depart Merseyside in the coming weeks. The Anfield officials believe that Lewis is not expected to be playing any role for the club in the future.

The full-back spent the last season on loan at Newport County and is now expected to be leaving the Reds.

Lewis to leave Liverpool

Lewis came through Liverpool Academy and was once tipped to go straight to the top. However, the defender’s progress has stagnated in recent years. And there’s now a good chance that the fullback will leave the Premier League giants this summer.

With Lewis spending the last three seasons out on loan at four different clubs, a departure from Liverpool would be an ideal move for all parties this summer.

Especially with the defender at a stage in his career where breaking into Jurgen Klopp’s plans feels unlikely at best.

Indeed, Lewis himself likely knows that making it at Liverpool aged 23 would be quite incredible at this point. And with insiders from the Reds now thinking the defender will be leaving, a transfer could soon be arranged for the former England youth international.

Leaving a club as big as Liverpool is difficult for any young player. But for Lewis, departing Anfield will be the only way the defender gets his footballing career back on track.

Moreover, clubs lower down the English pyramid would likely be interested in the fullback.

As we know, Lewis has shown at the likes of Newport and Plymouth Argyle that he has the quality to become a key player at a professional club.

Also, leaving Liverpool could be the best thing to happen in the defender’s young career so far.
