Liverpool’s search for a new center-back has taken them straight to South London, but there’s a twist. Crystal Palace have reportedly told captain Marc Guehi that he can leave this summer — but only if the price is right (via GIVEMESPORT).

The 25-year-old is entering the final year of his deal at Selhurst Park, and the club would rather cash in now than lose him for free next summer.

That’s opened the door for interested clubs, and Liverpool are near the front of the queue. But there’s one snag: Palace’s price tag has the Reds holding off.

Crystal Palace apparently want more than £45 million for their England international. Liverpool doesn’t think the number adds up — not yet.

Guehi is on several shortlists, including Tottenham’s and Newcastle’s. Spurs even had a bid rejected in January.

Palace were hopeful back then that they could convince him to sign a new deal. Now, they’re preparing for life after him.

Can Liverpool sign Marc Guehi this summer?

The answer may depend more on numbers than names. Guehi is seen by Liverpool as a smart option despite not fitting their usual age profile for defensive signings.

They’ve looked at younger talents like Jorrel Hato, but Guehi’s experience and leadership — not to mention his stats — put him in a different bracket.

Still, the Reds are firm. They won’t make a formal offer unless Palace lower their asking price. At the same time, they’re aware other clubs might jump in.

For Guehi, the next move has to make sense. With the 2026 World Cup in sight, he wants to be playing regularly — not just warming the bench in a bigger squad. That means any team making a move needs to offer more than just money.

As things stand, it’s a waiting game. Liverpool are watching. Palace are listening. And Guehi is staying calm while everything swirls around him.
