The summer window is heating up, and Liverpool may be about to make another key move — this time in defense.
Crystal Palace might have just revealed their hand. The London club has agreed to sign a new center-back in a record deal, and all signs now point to Marc Guehi heading out.
With Liverpool deep in talks and looking for a strong partner at the back, the 24-year-old England international could be next through the door at Anfield.
The Reds are moving fast this summer. With several new faces already in the squad and Jarell Quansah sold to Bayer Leverkusen, Arne Slot now needs a reliable defender to fill the gap. Guehi fits the bill, and with just one year left on his Palace deal, he looks ready for a new challenge.
Palace have reportedly agreed to bring in Ousmane Diomande from Sporting CP for around €55 million.
The 21-year-old is seen as Guehi’s direct replacement — a big hint that the Eagles know their star defender is on the move. Guehi, for his part, has informed the club he won’t be signing a new contract.

Should Liverpool really go after Marc Guehi?
There’s no doubt Guehi has quality. Calm on the ball, solid in the air, and good in one-on-one duels — he ticks many boxes for Liverpool. But some fans are wondering: is he the right fit?
Guehi is reportedly seeking assurances on playing time. And rightly so. Liverpool have a deep squad, and no player wants to sit on the bench. Arne Slot and the Reds’ board are trying to sell him their vision — and Guehi looks tempted.
According to Fabrizio Romano, “the player is really appreciated by Liverpool,” and the talks are ongoing.
With Crystal Palace asking around £45-50 million, the final fee may come down due to Guehi’s contract situation.
This deal’s not done yet, but it’s moving. And if Palace already has his replacement ready, the writing may be on the wall.
