Liverpool’s summer window could be heading toward a critical juncture as Bayern Munich prepare a renewed and “important proposal” for Luis Diaz, according to Fabrizio Romano.

With the Colombian winger “open to the move,” the Bundesliga champions want to “finalise the deal quickly” should Liverpool open the door.

Romano stated, “For Luis Diaz, we’re about to enter into important days. Bayern are expected to bid again for Luis Diaz. I expect their new proposal to be an important proposal to try and tempt Liverpool.”

While Liverpool are not under pressure to sell, there’s growing acceptance that a substantial offer could shift their stance.

Diaz, despite his flaws, has been one of the few consistent sparks in tight matches, and losing him would mark a significant gamble at this point in the window.

Will Liverpool regret selling Luis Diaz?

Journalist Ben Jacobs told GiveMeSport that Anthony Gordon and Rodrygo are “two names appreciated” by Liverpool, “albeit without significant movement on either.”

Gordon remains a fan favourite at Anfield and would add proven Premier League dynamism, but it is Rodrygo who excites the most.

The Real Madrid forward, valued at €90 million by Transfermarkt, has been linked to both Liverpool and Arsenal. Spanish outlet AS claims Liverpool are reigniting their historic pursuit of Rodrygo as a form of “revenge” against Real Madrid.

Jurgen Klopp was reportedly beaten to the punch for Rodrygo at 16, and Madrid also pipped the Reds to Kylian Mbappe, Jude Bellingham, and now Trent Alexander-Arnold on a free transfer.

Meanwhile, Lyon winger Malick Fofana has emerged as a potential replacement. Romano described the 19-year-old Belgian as “an interesting option eventually for Liverpool in case the deal for Luis Diaz goes through.”

Though raw, Fofana fits the club’s long-term model — versatile, technical, and with high upside.

Still, replacing Diaz with a teenager is a move fraught with risk. If Liverpool sell this late, the replacement must be ready to deliver now.

Otherwise, the club risks repeating a familiar, frustrating cycle — selling proven quality with vague assurances for tomorrow.
