Fantasy Premier League (FPL) is back for the 2025/26 season, and the big question is already causing headaches: Do you splash the cash on Mohamed Salah?
The Egyptian King has once again been crowned the priciest midfielder in the game. But should FPL managers dive into their budget and build their team around him?
Mo Salah earned 344 points last season. No player came close. In fact, he finished more than 100 points ahead of Brentford’s Bryan Mbeumo. Moreover, the Egyptian was crowned as the Premier League’s Player of the Season in the 2024/25 season.
With 18 double-digit hauls, Salah was captain material almost every single week. Under new boss Arne Slot, he didn’t just maintain his level — he raised it.
So even though the price is steep, his consistency is hard to ignore. If he’s not in your squad by Gameweek 1, you might end up chasing points all season.

How much will Mohamed Salah cost you in 2025/26 FPL?

Salah will cost you a record-breaking £14.5 million — more than any midfielder in FPL history. Yes, that’s even more than Cristiano Ronaldo back in the day.
Meanwhile, Manchester City’s Erling Haaland has dropped to £14.0m after a quiet campaign.
The Norwegian still racked up 22 goals and led all forwards in shots inside the box (98), but Salah’s overall output was in a different league.
So where does that leave you? Starting with both Salah and Haaland will take up nearly a third of your budget.
That means finding bargains elsewhere — hello, Florian Wirtz at £8.5m or Isak at £10.5m.
Choosing Salah might feel like a bold call. But then again, not picking him might feel like a red card waiting to happen.
