Mikel Arteta has vowed that Arsenal will still have the chances and won’t let the Reds clinch the Premier League title that easily.

Arsenal face Ipswich at Portman Road on Sunday, knowing a loss could crown Liverpool champions. Liverpool will secure the title if they beat Leicester and Arsenal fail to win.

Arteta is determined to prevent that from happening. “We will make sure we win the game,” said Arteta.

“That (Liverpool winning) won’t happen this weekend ”, according to This Is Anfield.

Arsenal recently reached the Champions League semi-finals after a stunning 2-1 win at Real Madrid. The result completed a dominant 5-1 aggregate victory for the Gunners.

Arteta’s run for Premier League title may wrap up

However, Arsenal have fallen behind Liverpool in the league. They trail Arne Slot’s side by 13 points with six games left in the Premier League. Two consecutive draws against Everton and Brentford have damaged their title hopes.

Meanwhile, Newcastle have won five straight matches and are closing in. Newcastle could move one point behind Arsenal if they beat Aston Villa on Saturday.

Arteta acknowledged Newcastle’s form and praised their consistency. “Credit to Newcastle for the form they’re in,” he said.

Ipswich, meanwhile, are fighting for survival. A loss could confirm their relegation back to the Championship. Arteta warned against underestimating them.

“They’re well-organized and fight every week,” he said. “We expect a tough game.”

With a Champions League semi-final looming, Arteta is expected to rotate his squad. Ben White, Ethan Nwaneri, and Leandro Trossard are likely to start.

Raheem Sterling may also feature after limited minutes this season. Jorginho remains sidelined with a rib injury. Riccardo Calafiori is nearing a return but won’t feature against Ipswich.

He could return in time to face Paris Saint-Germain. Arteta knows Arsenal must return to winning ways. “We need to step up,” he said. “We must finish the season strongly.”
