LFC has always suffered from VAR and inconsistent decisions, the most recent being Luis Diaz and his onside goal. However, it has come to attention that Michael Oliver had acted against match protocol in Liverpool vs. Nottingham.
Fans are still in doubt at what exactly caused Oliver who did not look at a controversial moment in the match. Now that people are talking about it, we hope he will be more vigilant in his future matches.
Michael Oliver ignores the right decision in Liverpool vs. Nottingham
In the last match, we saw Trent arguing with the match referee over a decision that clearly made him angry. This was by far one of the most talked about moments apart from the Reds’ 0-1 defeat at Anfield.
However, it now appears that Michael Oliver has made a huge error in Liverpool vs. Nottingham Forest. While the match was coming to an end, a Liverpool star made a hefty foul. Dominik Szoboszlai mistakenly fouled a Forest player on the right-hand side of the box. Naturally, he got the whistle from Oliver.
Shortly after it happened, the Hungarian midfielder threw the ball away in utter frustration. Michael Oliver appeared to ignore this error in the Liverpool vs. Nottingham match for which he could have easily got a second yellow and one-match suspension. According to FA Law 12: Fouls and Misconduct, the referee should always punish a player who delays by throwing the ball far away or any touch which is delaying the play.
It also gives him power in case the player touches the ball provokingly even after there’s a decision. Theoretically, Michael Oliver should have made this his second yellow card which might have seen Szoboszlai suspended for the Bournemouth clash.
Even Declan Rice saw a second yellow for slightly changing the direction of the ball away against Brighton.
Although it happened in our favour Reds so nothing to worry but you are always at risk of something unfortunate hitting you in the world of these inconsistent referee decisions.
One week you feel you got lucky but VAR will show you that ‘KARMA’ exists.
