Liverpool are set to strengthen their attacking depth by signing Italian forward Federico Chiesa from Juventus. After securing Giorgi Mamardashvili earlier this week it looks like it’s going to be a busy end to the transfer window for Richard Hughes & Co.
Giorgi Mamaardashvili will play on loan at Valencia for the rest of the season, Federico Chiesa will be the second signing of the summer from the Reds. There are reports suggesting the Reds will sign a defender also before the window closes.
Federico Chiesa set to join Liverpool
Fabrizio Romano has revealed Liverpool have reached an agreement with Juventus for Federico Chiesa. It will be a four year contract for Chiesa. Chiesa will travel to Merseyside later today. Liverpool reached an agreement with Juventus for €13m initial fee with add-ons.
When Fabrizio Romano broke the news on Monday, It was surprising to many fans as Chiesa was not a name linked to Liverpool this transfer window.
Chiesa a good signing for the reds?
Juventus put Chiesa up for sale as he was not part new manager Thiago Motta’s plans. Liverpool view Chiesa as a great market opportunity. The Reds have now signed Chiesa for €13 million, which is a bargain if he regains his Euro 2020 form.
He was one of the best players of Italy in their Euro 2020 campaign. However, he suffered a ligament tear in the 21/22 season which saw him miss 45 games for Juventus.
Federico Chiesa can comfortably play anywhere in the front three, his versatility could prove huge for Liverpool. Chiesa can play on the right wing and could be a quality back-up for Mo Salah.
