Crystal Palace are reportedly set to see Marc Guehi leave this summer after winning the FA Community Shield final on Sunday.

The London club handed Liverpool a penalty shootout defeat in the final at Wembley. After lifting the silverware, Crystal Palace chairman Steve Parish spoke on the possibility of losing Marc Guehi on a free: “For players of that calibre to leave on a free, it is a problem for a football club, there is no doubt about it, unfortunately.

He further added: “We will just have to see what happens. It needs a new contract or a conclusion of some kind.”

Guehi’s current deal at Palace runs until 2026.

Liverpool eyeing a defender, Crystal Palace captain among the favourites

After signing Florian Wirtz, Milos Kerkez, Jeremie Frimpong, and Hugo Ekitike, Arne Slot reportedly still wants to add a centre-back this summer. Jarell Quansah’s exit is set to impact Liverpool’s defensive depth.

Although Joe Gomez is still available, Slot might not see him as a reliable backup considering his past injury record.

Meanwhile, Liverpool have been interested in Marc Guehi since June. Earlier this month, Palace made it clear they want at least €55m for the defender after rejecting two bids from the Merseyside club.

With Fabrizio Romano reporting that Guehi is looking for a move and unwilling to sign a new deal, Liverpool could make another approach late in the transfer window.

However, the Reds also have other names on the list, with Giovanni Leoni currently a strong contender alongside Guehi.
