Milos Kerkez

Liverpool remain confident of signing Milos Kerkez, despite late interest from Premier League rivals Man City) Manchester City. The Reds have worked on this transfer for months and believe the deal is nearly done.

Kerkez has impressed at Bournemouth, attracting attention from England’s biggest clubs ahead of the summer window.

Liverpool identified the youngster as their top target to eventually succeed Andy Robertson at left-back.

Sporting director Richard Hughes began talks with Kerkez’s camp before Christmas. Now, new reports claim Manchester City have also met with Kerkez’s representatives.

Man City need a major transformation, but not Kerkez

City view Kerkez as a potential upgrade in their aging full-back department. However, the meeting reportedly left City less impressed, as per TeamTalk. This development boosts Liverpool’s hopes of finalising the deal quickly.

Arne Slot wants fresh competition for Robertson, who turns 31 this year. Kostas Tsimikas hasn’t provided strong enough cover or pressure in that position. Kerkez would offer Liverpool more pace, energy, and attacking drive on the left flank.

He’s known for his overlapping runs, work rate, and defensive awareness. Bournemouth are ready to sell, with a £50 million price tag already set. This deal would deliver huge profit for the Cherries after signing Kerkez last year.

Liverpool are not expected to face a bidding war from Manchester City. City are planning a squad rebuild but have other defensive priorities. They may sell Bernardo Silva, Jeremy Doku, and others to fund new signings.

Kerkez, however, appears more aligned with Liverpool’s style and squad needs. With talks advancing, Liverpool hope to make Kerkez their first summer signing.

The club’s transfer strategy is aggressive and focused under Hughes and other members. Expect official news from Liverpool soon if negotiations stay on track. Slot wants his new players in early, and Kerkez looks closest.
