Liverpool fans, brace yourselves! Arsenal might have their eyes on Newcastle’s Anthony Gordon but Liverpool aren’t out of the picture just yet.
The 23-year-old winger, who had a stellar season with Newcastle, was previously linked to a surprising move to Anfield. As the transfer window draws to a close, let’s dive into why Gordon’s future might still hold a twist.
Gordon Future in Limbo?

Gordon has caught the attention of top clubs, including Arsenal and, earlier in the summer, Liverpool. The Reds, despite their rivalry with Everton, were reportedly in talks with Newcastle for the England international. However, Newcastle’s high demands seemed to put an end to those discussions.
But here’s where it gets interesting: Gordon’s situation remains in flux. Arsenal’s sporting director, Edu Gaspar, is a known admirer of the winger, and while they won’t make a move before the transfer deadline, there’s a possibility that Arsenal could make an offer next summer.
In the meantime, Newcastle have opened talks with Gordon over a new contract, but there’s no guarantee that he’ll stay put.
Liverpool fans will remember that manager Eddie Howe couldn’t rule out a potential exit for Gordon earlier this month, stating, “I have been in the game too long to make those statements. What I will say is from my part and the club’s part, we will do everything we can to keep our best players – but I am not a fortune teller.”
With Gordon’s impressive tally of 11 goals and 10 assists last season, it’s no wonder Liverpool might still be keeping tabs on him. And while Arsenal may be the more immediate threat, don’t count out a potential surprise move from the Reds in the future.
For now, Liverpool fans can only watch and wait, hoping that their club’s interest in Gordon could reignite when the timing is right. With the transfer window closing soon, it’s all eyes on Newcastle and their next move. Will Gordon stay, or could a dramatic twist see him don the famous red jersey at Anfield? Only time will tell.
