Rodrygo’s future at Real Madrid is turning into one of this summer’s biggest transfer sagas. The Brazilian winger is reportedly in talks with Tottenham Hotspur, raising eyebrows across the Premier League — especially at Liverpool.
Tottenham have stepped up their chase and are reportedly said to be negotiating with Madrid over a potential deal.
Real are open to letting Rodrygo leave, especially after the arrival of Kylian Mbappe. But there’s a twist — Rodrygo’s first choice is still believed to be Liverpool, as per reports (via Ramon Alvarez de Mon).
Despite that, Liverpool have yet to open official talks with Real Madrid. The Reds have been monitoring Rodrygo for months, especially with changes expected in their forward line. But as things stand, Spurs seem to be the ones making all the early moves.
Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy has reportedly taken matters into his own hands. The North London club are even prepared to break their usual wage rules to land the 24-year-old, who currently earns over £200,000 per week at Madrid.
That’s a number that might cause some serious “pay-backlash” inside the Spurs dressing room.

Should Liverpool go after Rodrygo?
Rodrygo is quick, sharp, and full of energy—exactly the kind of player that fits Liverpool’s pressing style.
He can play on either wing and even through the middle. His numbers last season weren’t amazing, with just six goals in La Liga, but his overall play and work rate still stand out.
At 24, he already has Champions League and international experience under his belt. And let’s face it, with Mbappe around, his minutes in Madrid are only going to shrink.
If Liverpool are serious about adding depth and future firepower, this could be the time to make a move.
But Spurs won’t wait around forever. If Liverpool don’t act soon, they might see Rodrygo dancing down the wing at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium instead of Anfield.
