With the new season breathing on their necks, Premier League powerhouses are on their last-minute preparations. Recently, Liverpool have weighed in on the race for signing Viktor Gyokeres.
As it appears from insider news, Arsenal have been disappointed after this move from the Reds. They were also putting some hope into signing the talent in, but things are no longer simple.
Liverpool Keeping An Eye On Viktor Gyokeres
The talent from Sporting Lisbon has made 50 appearances in all of his competitions.
Their record of 15 assists and 43 goals has made him worthy of playing in any of the big Premier League powerhouses.
However, the elegant playing style of Viktor Gyokeres will fit perfectly with that of Arne Slot’s Liverpool F.C.
Viktor has a release clause of £86 million and Arsenal was doing their best to decrease that asking fee.
Reports indicate that they shortlisted the player to be their top striker, too. Now, in a surprising turn, Liverpool are matching the price to sign Viktor Gyokeres.
The Gunners have faced a serious setback in their mission this time. Arsenal wanted to spend not more than £52 million on the 26-year-old Sweden International player.
Moreover, the release clause of the Sporting CP forward has been exceptionally high.
Lastly, if Liverpool are successful in bringing in Viktor Gyokeres, we would love to see him functioning under Slot.
Arsenal are currently focusing mostly on Riccardo Calafiori. That’s why the Gunners are not involved heavily in asking for Viktor from Sporting Lisbon.
