Liverpool are currently preparing a £42 million offer for Lille’s young center-back, Leny Yoro. The Reds are looking to strengthen their defense in the upcoming summer transfer window.
Manager Arne Slot is particularly eager to bring in the promising talent to Anfield.
Despite having four strong center-backs, Liverpool see an opportunity to enhance their squad following Joel Matip’s departure at the end of his contract.
Leny Yoro is hailed as a ‘generational talent’. He has caught the eye of several top clubs. Liverpool, Manchester United, Paris Saint-Germain, and Real Madrid are all in the race for his signature.
Journalist Ben Jacobs revealed that Manchester United’s £42 million (€50 million) bid has already been green-lit by Lille.
Over on X, Jacobs noted that Liverpool are ready to pony up the same amount but want to make sure Yoro is keen on donning the red jersey.
Yoro To Liverpool: Impossible!
With one year remaining on his current contract at Lille, Yoro has expressed a strong desire to move to Real Madrid.
He is even willing to wait until 2025 to join the Spanish giants on a free transfer. This highlights his commitment to playing for Los Blancos.
This preference poses a significant challenge for any other club attempting to sign him this summer.
Liverpool have been very transparent about their interest in Yoro and their willingness to pay a substantial fee to secure him.

However, they remain realistic, understanding the futility of chasing a player determined to head elsewhere.
Yoro’s unshakeable dream of joining Real Madrid makes it tough for Liverpool or any other club to sway his decision.
Now, Lille are open to accepting offers from Liverpool or Manchester United. But the situation remains complicated by the player’s personal ambitions.
Presently, the Reds are facing the dilemma of whether it is prudent to invest heavily in a player who could be available for free next summer and who might not be fully committed to their club.
Liverpool’s stance is clear: they are interested and financially capable of making a significant offer for Leny Yoro, but they are also mindful of the player’s preference for Real Madrid.
