Liverpool Target Leny Yoro as a Solution
In an attempt to strengthen their defense after Joel Matip left Liverpool are vying with Real Madrid for Lille defender Leny Yoro.
Yoro has become a hot target despite interest in other center-back options like Antonio Silva and Goncalo Inacio.
The eighteen-year-old’s £51 million price tag may make him one of the most expensive teenagers in football history due to his stellar performances for Lille last season where he missed just two Ligue 1 games.

According to Ben Jacobs,
“Liverpool are serious about Yoro.
They’ve been in direct contact with Lille to understand the terms, and they see him, as I would say, the top target in that position and very much a generational talent.
So they’re certainly not going to give up on the Lille centre-back.
It may well take Lille’s asking price – which is believed to be somewhere close to £50million – to really try and force the issue, and hope that Real Madrid back off.
But the danger from Liverpool’s point of view is that as long as Real Madrid can remain in the race, the Bernabeu – whether that be 2024 or 2025 – remains his most likely destination.”
Real Madrid’s interest presents a big obstacle because they are still a strong contender to sign him.
Liverpool’s only chance to acquire the young defender is to accept Lille’s asking price and hope Real Madrid backs off.
Real Madrid Situation
Top young players like Jude Bellingham, Kylian Mbappe, Vinicius Junior, Eduardo Camavinga, Aurelien Tchouameni and Endrick have all been successfully acquired by Real Madrid forming one of the world’s best young teams.
Yoro would provide them with a future star and bolster their ageing defense.
Liverpool will have a difficult time acquiring Yoro but any elite team would be interested in him given his potential and experience to date.
