It seems the transfer window isn’t even open yet, but Liverpool have already started knocking.
With Darwin Nunez edging closer to the exit door at Anfield, the Reds are wasting no time in lining up a new striker as they search for a replacement.
The name on their radar? Aston Villa’s Morgan Rogers. And yes, the scouts have already been sent to check him out — not just once, but “several times,” according to Fabrizio Romano (via Give Me Sport).
Rogers, still only 22, has caught the eye with his performances since joining Villa earlier this year.
The young forward has delivered a strong return, with 17 goals and 14 assists in just 66 appearances. That kind of output gets noticed — especially when a club is looking for a mix of goals, flair, and flexibility.
Rogers doesn’t just stick to one position either. He’s played on both wings, behind the striker, and even filled in across the frontline.
As he put it himself in a recent interview (via the Athletic), “I’m happy to play anywhere… I’ve played everywhere.”
That “everywhere” might just include Anfield soon—if Liverpool can get past one major hurdle.

Liverpool attempts complicated chase for Rogers as Nunez replacement
Despite Liverpool’s growing interest, the move is far from a done deal. Aston Villa aren’t exactly in the mood to sell.
Manager Unai Emery considers Rogers a key piece, and with Villa chasing a Champions League spot, they won’t let go easily.
Villa have already offloaded Jhon Duran for a cool £64 million, so they’re in no rush to make another big sale — especially with Profit and Sustainability Rules breathing down their neck.
Still, if Villa miss out on a top-five finish, the Reds might smell opportunity. They’re reportedly ready to act if there’s even the slightest opening.
And with Arne Slot preparing for a fresh start at Liverpool, replacing Nunez — who has struggled to match expectations — is part of the plan. The Uruguayan has netted just seven times this season, a far cry from the £85 million expectations that came with his move.
Liverpool may be Premier League champions, but there’s no resting on trophies here. The rebuild is already in motion, and Rogers could be the first piece of Slot’s puzzle.
