A new Premier League season is about to start and here is a highlight stat that shows the chances of Liverpool winning the opening match against Ipswich.
It has been almost three months since Liverpool’s iconic manager Jurgen Klopp bid goodbye to the Merseyside fans at Anfield after the last game of the 2023-24 season.
After spending nine-and-a-half seasons, the German tactician left the club with an emotional and teary-eyed farewell.
Despite all these, the earth does not stop revolving and days have gone by and the 2024-25 season is about to commence in less than 24 hours.
The Reds are also ready to kick off the new season under their new head coach Arne Slot. And to boost their confidence prior to their opening game, here is a stat that provides hope.
How can Liverpool win their first Premier League match of the 2024-25 season?
The Merseyside giants have been unbeaten in their last eight PL games against the newly promoted teams.
Luton Town, Burnley and Sheffield United were the teams in the 2023-24 season who secured promotion to PL from the Championship.
Against Luton, the Reds drew the first fixture 1-1 in November and won the returning fixture 4-1 at Anfield in February.
Burnley hosted the PL giants in the first fixture in December and suffered a 0-2 defeat and in the reverse fixture at Anfield in February, the hosts won 3-1.
Lastly, Sheffield United were defeated by LFC in both fixtures 0-2 in December and 3-1 in April respectively.
In the 2022-23 season, Nottingham Forest, Bournemouth and Fulham had earned qualification to the PL.
The Reds defeated both Nottingham Forest and Fulham in the returning fixtures 3-2 and 1-0 respectively.
These eight wins would definitely boost the confidence of Liverpool fans and players.
Hopefully, Liverpool will win their Premier League match against Ipswich Town with ease.
