Liverpool fans can finally breathe a little easier. Amid a wave of injuries that has left Arne Slot’s squad stretched thin, one of the team’s key leaders is back on the pitch — and just in time for a crucial run of games.
The Reds have been walking a tightrope in recent weeks, with fitness worries piling up like defenders in a crowded box.
Alisson Becker is already sidelined with a hamstring injury, while Wataru Endo was forced to withdraw from Japan’s national team due to a knock.
Young defender Giovanni Leoni suffered a heartbreaking ACL rupture in his debut, and Ibrahima Konate also pulled up during the Chelsea match with a thigh problem.
To make matters worse, Andy Robertson sparked concern when he limped off at Stamford Bridge, needing support from Liverpool’s head of physical therapy, Chris Morgan.
For a squad already missing key players, it looked like another nightmare scenario.

Robertson steps up when Liverpool needed it most
But here’s the good news Liverpool supporters were waiting for — according to STV News, Robertson has returned to full training with Scotland ahead of their World Cup qualifiers against Greece and Belarus.
The timing couldn’t be better. His participation in Wednesday’s session suggests he’s fit and likely to be available for Liverpool’s Premier League clash against Manchester United on October 19.
Scotland boss Steve Clarke had even called up Derby County’s Max Johnston as backup, in case the captain couldn’t play. But with Robertson lacing up his boots again, Clarke’s decision now looks more like smart insurance than necessity.
Speaking to Scotland’s official YouTube channel, Robertson said:
“I can’t wait. It feels ages since we have been back here, especially for a meaningful game, a competitive game here. Me and the boys can’t wait to be back in front of the fans and give them something to shout about.”
The left-back also added that Scotland must “make home advantage count,” reflecting both his determination and his recovery confidence.

Robertson’s return couldn’t have come at a better time for Liverpool. With key defenders missing and crucial fixtures on the horizon, his experience, energy, and leadership are exactly what the Reds need. It’s safe to say — this comeback is the kind of “assist” Liverpool needed off the pitch.
