Liverpool may have a new transfer storm brewing, as Serie A champions Napoli are reportedly preparing another approach for Federico Chiesa.

The Italian winger’s future at Anfield has once again come into question, with reports suggesting the Naples club is eager to test Liverpool’s resolve in the coming months.

After a quiet start to the season, Chiesa’s situation has drawn attention across Europe. While he remains a fan favorite at Anfield, the 28-year-old has found consistent minutes hard to come by under Arne Slot.

The winger has scored twice and provided three assists this season, but his place in the starting lineup is far from certain.

With the January window approaching, Napoli are said to be exploring another bid, hoping to lure the player back to Italy.

According to Napoli Magazine (Anything Liverpool), the Serie A side “will make another attempt for Federico Chiesa” and are hopeful of convincing him to leave Liverpool this time around.

Chiesa’s national snub sparks fresh transfer talk

Fueling the speculation further, Chiesa recently turned down a call-up to the Italy national team, a decision that caught many by surprise. Italy coach Gennaro Gattuso confirmed the winger’s withdrawal ahead of their World Cup qualifiers, saying:

“I must respect what the player tells me. We have to respect the decisions and problems that each of us has.”

It’s not the first time Chiesa has missed out on representing his country, as he continues to prioritize fitness and rhythm at club level. The winger reportedly told Gattuso that he didn’t feel “100 percent” ready to contribute.

Instead, Chiesa stayed in Liverpool to continue training — a move that might help him regain form, but also adds to the uncertainty surrounding his role under Slot.

Napoli not giving up easily

Napoli’s renewed interest doesn’t come as a shock. The club’s sporting directors have been long-time admirers of Chiesa, who was once a key target before his move to Anfield.

They reportedly believe the forward could bring creativity and experience to their attack — particularly as they prepare for potential changes in their front line next summer.

Liverpool, however, are not expected to part ways easily. The Reds are aware of Chiesa’s value both on and off the pitch. His flair and versatility remain strong assets, especially during a season packed with fixtures across multiple competitions.

Still, the situation might evolve if Chiesa’s playing time continues to be limited. Liverpool’s management reportedly wants clarity by January, as the winger enters a pivotal phase in his career.

What next for the Federico Chiesa?

Despite the transfer buzz, Chiesa has maintained a positive outlook. Speaking recently to Sky Sports, he reflected on his Premier League title win, saying:

“Winning it for Liverpool, playing with amazing players, it was just amazing. Even though I didn’t participate that much, I was glad I won that trophy.”

While his heart appears set on fighting for his place, the upcoming months could decide whether that fight continues at Anfield or elsewhere.
