Liverpool are looking to sign a talented young defender from one of their Premier League rivals to shore up the defence and provide a long-term solution for the left-back position in Arne Slot’s team.
Arne Slot’s squad have been effective and efficient over the course of this season, but there are still some question marks over the left-back position.
Andy Robertson, now 30, has come under a lot of criticism while playing the role this season and Kostas Tsimikas, 28 who deputises for the Scot is not a long-term replacement either.
The Reds’ are now looking for a permanent fix to their left-back headaches and are keen on signing a young fullback to serve as an upgrade and long-lasting solution in the position.

Defender that Liverpool are keen on bringing to the club
According to football journalist, Fabrizio Romano, Liverpool are monitoring the form and progress of Bournemouth defender, Milos Kerkez, who scored a wonderful goal in a 4-1 win against Newcastle United over the weekend.
In a tweet on social media platform X, after the Cherries beat Newcastle on Saturday, the Italian journalist said: “Not only Kluivert show… as Milos Kerkez scores for Bournemouth and he keeps performing at top level this season. Manchester United and Liverpool are both closely monitoring his progress.”
Kerkez could prove to be the answer for the Reds, as he is enjoying a superb season with Bournemouth. The 21-year-old left-back has provided three assists and scored two goals in 23 appearances across all competitions for Andoni Iraola’s team.
Bournemouth will be hoping to keep the Hungarian defender till at least the summer, especially given that they could be challenging for a place in Europe next season. The Cherries currently sit on 7th place in the Premier League table and are just a point behind fourth-placed Manchester City.
Kerkez still has over three years on his contract at Bournemouth, having arrived from Dutch side AZ Alkmaar in July 2023 for a reported £15.5m.
Liverpool will likely face competition from Manchester United for his signature if they make a move for the Hungary international defender.
It could also take a hefty price tag for Bournemouth to let go of a valuable part of Iraola’s team, as the Cherries will be looking to cash in on a player they brought to the club a little over 18 months ago.
