Ben Doak’s Comeback: The Young Star Sacrificing Summer For Liverpool Glory Under Arne Slot!

Ben Doak has returned to training for Liverpool, eager to impress the new coach Arne Slot at Anfield.

For a young talent who missed out on representing Scotland at a major tournament like the Euros, recent weeks have been tough for Doak.

His dreams of contributing to Scotland’s European Championship run in Germany were shattered by an injury in early June.

The latest blow came just after the teenager’s progress at Liverpool was halted by a meniscus issue picked up during Under-21s duty back in December.

The injury prevented him from adding to his five first-team appearances last season. The latest of which was a Europa League defeat to Union Saint-Gilloise in December, with Liverpool already through to the tournament’s last 16.

In a season that saw Liverpool reach the Carabao Cup final and face Sparta Prague in a Europa League clash with an 11-2 aggregate score, Doak missed opportunities for more game time due to his injury.

Doak Gives Up Summer For Early Return To Liverpool

Naturally, a young player in such a situation might feel downcast about such bad luck. However, Doak has maintained a positive outlook so far.

He focused on his long-term health and future prospects despite missing a significant part of Liverpool’s season which would have been a career highlight in Germany for him.

The former Celtic youngster is not inclined towards a full summer break. Instead, he has opted for a personal trainer to return to the AXA Training Centre in peak condition this week.

Pre-season testing is always a tough challenge. But, Doak was determined to get back to work on Monday to overcome his injury and prove his worth to Arne Slot.

Doak spent time in Scotland last month, training at Killbirnie’s Valefield Park under the guidance of Empire Performance. His one-on-one sessions were slotted alongside those mandated by Liverpool.

The right-winger also reconnected with his childhood friend Dylan Reid, a midfielder in Crystal Palace’s youth system.

The ECHO reported Liverpool are ‘leaving no half measures’ to make sure that their £500,000 signing from Celtic is given all the facilities to return fully recovered this summer.

Liverpool are said to follow a ‘softly softly’ approach to Doak back to his best condition. After such a long time sidelined, there must be a careful balance to avoid pushing him too hard too soon.

Liverpool will be hoping to get him back for the pre-season. As Scotland boss Steve Clarke said:

“Let’s not overhype or over push him. Let’s do it properly.”
