Liverpool’s season has taken another hit, and this one stings badly. Just as Arne Slot hoped to stabilize his struggling squad, new summer signing Jeremie Frimpong has reportedly suffered another setback — a fresh injury that will sideline him for around six weeks.

The Dutch full-back, who joined from Bayer Leverkusen in the summer, had been seen as one of Liverpool’s most exciting additions.

His pace, energy, and attacking flair were meant to give the Reds a new spark down the right flank. But that spark has fizzled for now, with Frimpong again forced to watch from the stands.

The 24-year-old limped off during the 5-1 win over Eintracht Frankfurt last week, and early reports suggest it’s a recurrence of the same hamstring issue that kept him out earlier in the season.

According to Liverpool Confidential, “Jeremie Frimpong is facing around six weeks on the sidelines in another significant blow to the out-of-form Premier League champions.”

It’s a tough break for both player and club. Frimpong had finally found rhythm after a frustrating start to life at Anfield. His previous hamstring injury on his Premier League debut against Bournemouth already cost him several weeks.

Now, just as he looked ready to make the right wing his own, another setback has hit.

To make matters worse, Arne Slot is already battling a stretched squad. Alisson Becker remains out with a hamstring injury, while Curtis Jones and Alexander Isak face late fitness tests ahead of the Aston Villa clash.

Only Ryan Gravenberch offers some hope of a return, with Slot admitting the midfielder “has a good chance” of being involved.

With Frimpong out, Conor Bradley is the only fit senior right-back, though Joe Gomez and Calvin Ramsay may be asked to fill in. Ramsay, in particular, impressed despite the midweek defeat to Crystal Palace — a small positive on an otherwise gloomy week for the Reds.

Slot’s men are heading into a crucial run of fixtures against Aston Villa, Real Madrid, and Manchester City. Losing Frimpong now feels like conceding an early goal — one that could change the whole game plan.

Liverpool fans can only hope this is the last “hamstring horror” of the season. But as it stands, the injury list is growing faster than their points tally — and the Reds’ title defense is hanging by a very thin thread.
